Clara Connell Obituary
Schroon Lake; Clara M. Swan Connell, 95 of Schroon Lake, New York, passed away Saturday January 31, 2015, in Rochester, NY.
Clara was born November 7, 1919 in Schroon Lake and was the daughter of the late Harold and Mabel Robinson Swan. She grew up on the Leland Hotel Emerson Farm on Hoffman Road, graduated from Schroon Lake Central School and attended Hunter College.
Clara worked at Cornell University for over twenty years. As Alumni Affairs Representative to the vice president, she considered herself fortunate to travel to Asia and Europe on behalf of the university. She found great satisfaction diligently planning the alumni's and university's functions.
Clara was an Our Lady of Lourdes parishioner, an avid golfer, quilter, oil painter and gardener. She especially enjoyed Adirondack evenings sitting on her house porch with her friends and faithful Labrador retriever.
Clara is survived by her son Christopher (Susan) Connell; daughter-in-law Margaret; her sister Rita Robinson Hooley; granddaughter Kimberly (William) Black, great granddaughters Kaitlin and Meghan; and by several nieces and nephews.
Clara was predeceased by her son James Connell and her brothers Robert and John Swan.
Friends may call at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 Rt. 9, Schroon Lake, NY on Friday February 6, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Schroon Lake. The Rev. Kevin McEwan Pastor will officiate. Interment will take place in the Warrensburg Cemetery at a date and time to be announced in the spring.
The family would like to extend its most heartfelt appreciation to the Emeritus staff at the Landing at Brockport, NY for their support and care.
