Drusilla A. (Dru) Piper

Newcomb, Drusilla A. (Dru) Piper 82 passed away peacefully on Monday October 9, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Dru was born July 15, 1935 in West Orange, NJ. She was predeceased by her parents George Weildand and Mae E. Rooney, her sister Judith Hemming and her son-in-law Peter Moles.
She married the love of her life, Roger Piper on May 3, 1958. She worked for Bankers Trust, First American and Key Bank in North Creek for many years
She was very involved with the Town of Minerva. She started the MinervaYouth Program and the ski program at Minerva Central School. She believed children should be able to ski. There was a ski closet available to those children who could not afford skis.
Dru was an avid skier downhill and cross country and a skier mom with two children who raced, she was always on the go whether following her children racing or canning things from the garden. She made the best pickles ever! (secret recipe).
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Roger, her three children Linda, Patty and Eric, her six grandchildren, Randi, Marcus, Piper, Marnie, Blake and Andrew and her dog Addie.
Calling hours will be held Monday October 23, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 US Rt. 9, Schroon Lake, NY. A Gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday October 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Tahawus Club 42 Lower Works Road, Newcomb NY.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials for Dru take the form of donations to the Newcomb Rescue Squad, Newcomb, NY 12852 or NYSEF PO Box 300, Wilmington, NY 12997.
