irwin Stowell Obituary
Schroon Lake; Irwin A. Stowell 85, passed away peacefully Saturday morning November 1, 2014 at the Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side after suffering a stroke.
Irwin was born April 6, 1929 in Schroon Lake, NY the son of the late Orville and Gladys Irene Gregory Stowell.
He was also predeceased by his sister, Doris.
He Married, and is survived by, the love of his life Alice (nee Moses) on September 3, 1954. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Irwin was the Owner of Stowell Building Services for many years and he built and rehabilitated many homes in the area until his retirement.
Irwin was a Veteran of the Korean War having served from 1950 until 1952. He was a proud member of the VFW Post # 362 of Schroon Lake, and was a former member of the American Legion Post #982 Schroon Lake. He was a former member and past President of the Schroon Lake Central School Board of Education.
Irwin is also survived by his beloved children, Deborah, Michael (Becky), Terry (Susan), Valerie (Richard) Shaut, Scott (Roxanne) and Erin, his brothers Arthur and Gene, his beloved grandchildren, Rachel, Christian, Daniel, Melinda, Timothy, Samantha, Grant, Morgan and Shannon.
At Irwin's request there will be no visiting hours or funeral services at this time. Services will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorials take the form of donations to VFW Post # 362, Schroon Lake, NY 12870 or to your Charity of choice.
