SCHROON LAKE--- It is with great sorrow that the family of Joan Helen Jenks announces her passing. She died Thursday March 19th, 2015 peacefully at home.
Joan was born September 21, 1936 in Schroon Lake to the late Anna Paige and George Richard Welch. Joan graduated from Schroon Lake Central School in 1956, where she was a life long resident. Joan received an achievement in Practical Sales work for outstanding selling ability from Curtis Vocational Diversion.She worked many years for Grand Union and Tops Grocery Store. Joan loved walking down street into town to catch up with her friends and to eat at the local restaurants. Her favorite past times were going to Bingo, knitting and shopping. Joan loved playing with her Great Grandson who quickly became an apple of her eye.
Joan is survived by one son William and Theresa Jenks; one Grandson Ryan and Crystal Jenks; Great Grand children Skyler, Lily and Lexi; one niece Roxanne Egan and family. Predeceased by her Mother Anna/ Father George Welch, sister Mary Jane Whitty, and son Mark David Jenks.
There will be a Family and Friends gathering to share memories of Joan held on March 29, 2015 at the Schroon Lake Firehouse from 1-4:00pm.
At the request of Joan there will be no calling hours or funeral. A Spring Burial will take place at the Severance Cemetery.
