Daniel A. LaRose

Newcomb: Daniel A. LaRose, “Tubby” 63, of Newcomb, NY, passed away on December 30th, 2023, with his family by his side, after a long and hard-fought battle with Huntington’s Disease.

Daniel was a workhorse, a man that never believed in rest.

After graduating from Glens Falls High School, he moved to Newcomb and embarked on his logging career, which he had a deep passion for and was successful at. He always said he learned a lot about himself during that time. He later joined the Town of Newcomb Highway Department where he enjoyed working with all “The Guys”.

Daniel was a simple man. He appreciated what he had and always worked hard to provide for his family. His energy could light up any room and anyone he met would love him right away.

His passions included his family, snowmobiling, Nascar, watching wrestling and Brenda Stringer's cooking.

Daniel was what many would call a character. He loved to party and to be the life of the party. During these performances he would engage in wild shenanigans and stunts that if you witnessed them, you never forgot them. His wife Tonya, described how in his prime he was like a wild stallion with his mane blowing in the wind, he was difficult to tame, but throughout the years he became a true family man in every sense of the word.

Daniel was one of the most kindhearted, humble men. He always believed in being the best he could be, not only for himself but for others too.

He loved life, his family, and his community more than anything and he fought hard until the very end, proving that his persistence coupled with sheer passion for life truly gave him the heart of a lion.

He will be missed deeply, but remembered by all that knew and loved him.

Daniel was predeceased by his mother Marjorie (Culver) LaRose, father, Harold A. LaRose, and sister Dorothy LaRose.

He is survived by his wife Tonya, children Connor and Carley, brother David and wife Karen, and his stepmom Ann LaRose.
