Daniel W. Welch 66, passed away on Tuesday April 8, 2014 at the DVA Medical Center Albany, N.Y. after an extended illness. Dan was born July 1, 1947 in Ticonderoga, N.Y. the son of the late William Welch and Jean Flynn Welch. Dan attended Schroon Lake Central School during which time he completed the Kennedy March, walking 50 miles from Schroon Lake to Glens Falls, N.Y. Dan was called to serve his country in 1967 and served one tour in Vietnam and one in Korea as part of the U.S. Army 82nd Engineers. While in the Army Dan worked as a heavy equipment operator. Dan continued to work as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver most of his life. Upon retiring Dan could be found on his tractor moving dirt or mowing acres and acres of the "Flats" on any summer day or plowing snow on many winter days. In addition to his mother Jean (Flynn) Welch, Dan is survived by three loving sons, Scott Welch, Jeff (Nan) Welch and Darren Welch, and grandson Landon Welch all of Stillwater, NY. Dan is also survived by a sister Paula (Phil) Huchro and four brothers, Randy (Liz), Marty (Lisa), William (Pam), and Eric (Charlene), a special Uncle Thomas Flynn, Aunt Lillian Lang, and many nieces nephews and his current wife Donna (Tyrrell) Welch. He will always be remembered. At Dan's request there will be no calling hours. The Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
