Newcomb; Dorothea Hall LaCourse, age 94, entered Glory surrounded by her beloved family in her home on Saturday January 21, 2017. Dorothea was born September 27, 1922 in Newcomb, NY the daughter of the late H. Lee and Effie Rice Hall and married the love of her life, Ludger J. LaCourse, in 1941. They had eight children, William LaCourse of Alfred, NY, Dorothy Moses of Newcomb, Rick LaCourse of Warners, NY, Ronnie LaCourse of Lake Royale, North Carolina, Paul LaCourse of Newcomb, Mary Pound of Newcomb, Edward LaCourse of Newcomb and Gigi Hoffpauir of Oakton, Virginia. Dorothea has sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren and also surviving is her sister Pauline Miller of Newcomb.
She predeceased by her husband Ludger J. LaCourse in 1993 and her sister Virginia L. Hall in 2015.
Dorothea was an active member of Newcomb United Methodist Church where she faithfully served playing the organ and working in My Favorite Store, a ministry of the church. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and students at Newcomb Central School.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 10:00 am and a Celebration of Life Service following at 11:00 am at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church in Newcomb. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Newcomb United Methodist Church.
