Schroon Lake; Duane A. Poulin, 68, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Albany Stratton VA Medical Center on October 25, 2015.
Duane was born to Cecile and the late Edward Poulin August 16, 1947 in Rumford, ME. He spent his youth in Seymour, CT until joining the Army to serve his country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him a Purple Heart as well as many other honors and medals.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Army he left Ct. and made his way north to settle in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Duane enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed his family's passion for NASCAR whether watching on TV or from the pits.
Most recently, Duane spent his time relaxing by the campfire with his wife Susan and taking rides to Crane Pond with his dog Stewie.
Survivors include his mother Cecile Poulin of CT., his loving wife Susan Poulin and his daughter Tabitha (Andrew) Gillings of Schroon Lake, NY. His sister Jayne (Steve) Pepe of Ansonia, CT. his brother Wayne Poulin of Derby, CT. and his 3 beautiful grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 US Rt. 9 Schroon Lake, NY on Friday October 30 from 10:30 to 12:00 followed by full military honors at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of Duane to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundwarriorproject.org.
