Eleanor R Jenks

Eleanor R. Knox Jenks passed away on March 23,2015. She was born on April 20, 1922 on the family farm homestead in Severance, New York.
Eleanor was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Carr Knox and Forrest H. Knox.
Her husband of 65 years, Luther E. Jenks preceded her in death in 2010. Her sister Martha Knox preceded her in death in 2014.
She leaves behind three children. Her son Douglas K. Jenks and wife Linda, daughter Marcia Gaige and husband Dennis, and daughter Patricia Simonds and husband Damon. Also several grandchildren (10) and many great grandchildren (10).
Eleanor attended and graduated Schroon Lake Central School, and also the Cochran School of Nursing.
Eleanor served as an Army nurse during WWII in Europe. She worked for a short time in the Albany hospital, then as a private nurse for years in Schroon Lake before retiring.
She was very involved in the Schroon Lake Community Church singing in the choir for many years and belonging to the Women's Society. Also she was involved with the Cooperative Extension of Essex County and the Schroon Lake Historical Society.
For the past two years Eleanor has lived with and got great care from her daughter Marcia and her husband Dennis in Saratoga, N.Y.
We would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care and Hospice of Saratoga for the outstanding care Eleanor received the last couple of months.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm March 27, 2015 at the Schroon Lake Community Church, Main Street, Schroon Lake, NY. Calling hours are Wednesday March 26, 2015 4-8pm at the Edward L. Kelly funeral home in Schroon Lake.
