Flora Whitty Obituary
Schroon Lake; Flora J. Whitty, 96, passed away Friday March 4, 2016 at the Heritage Commons Health Care facility in Ticonderoga, NY, after a long illness.
She was born March 19, 1919 on the family farm in Olmstedville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harry W. and Ella Van Norden Wilson.
Flora was predeceased by her beloved husband Julius J. Whitty Jr., her brother James V. Wilson (Frieda) and her sister Dorothy Berggern (Walter).
Flora was a devout Catholic who served as organist at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Schroon Lake for nearly 4 decades. Her love and appreciation for nature, family, friends and community has and always will be an inspiration to all who knew her.
Flora is survived by her daughter Mary B. Whitty, her stepson Gary M. Whitty (Kate) and her nieces and nephews that include 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday July 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Schroon Lake, internment will follow at the Severance Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Heritage Commons Nursing Home for their devoted care and friendship to Flora during the several years she resided there.
The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake, NY, 12870
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, Schroon Lake.
