Pottersville; Frederick H. Bump, 86, passed away Sunday December 29, 2013 at the Adirondack Tri County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek after a long illness.
Fred was born May 27, 1927 in Horicon, NY the son of the late Dennis and Nellie Ross Bump.
He was predeceased by his wife and the mother of his children Leona (Armstrong) Bump, his son Terry Kim Bump, Katherine Tebo Bump, Elise Page Bump, his brothers Dennis and Roger Bump and his sisters Ada Richardson and Marion Philley.
Fred and his brother Dennis had a transportation business in their earlier years. Then he worked for Towsley and Towsley Lumber Co. in Pottersville and over many years he worked for many local loggers in the area.
Fred was a heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local 106 Albany, NY for over 30 years. Following retirement he found a love for golf and enjoyed many hours playing the game with family and friends in New York and in Florida where he lived for over 25 years, he came home to Pottersville when his illness required more care.
Fred was a veteran of WWII having honorably served in the United States Marine Corp.
Fred was a very social person, always enjoying a party and would dance to "most" any music. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his sons Richard Bump of Pottersville Barbara and Kimberly and Daniel Bump of Kennesaw, Georgia, his daughters Sherry Peet and her companion Ken Jones of Brant Lake and Dixie Potter of Warrensburg, his daughter-in-law Denise, his son-in- law Roger, his sister Margaret Barber of Troy, his seven grandchildren, Mathew, Brian, Michael, Douglas, Nathan, Amanda and Tabitha, his elven great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service, with full military honors will be held at the Brant Lake Cemetery at 11:30 AM Saturday May 17, 2014.
The family requests memorials take the form of donations to the American Legion Post 0964 Chestertown NY.
