Martha Ann Knox

Schroon Lake; Martha Ann Knox passed away on August 12, 2014.
Martha was born September 4, 1924 on the family farm homestead in Severance, New York. She
was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Carr Knox and Forrest H. Knox.
Martha leaves behind one sister Eleanor Ruth Jenks, her nephew Douglas (Linda) Jenks, two nieces Marcia (Dennis) Gaige and Patricia (Damon) Simonds, several grand nephews and grand nieces and great grand nephews and great grand nieces.
Martha attended and graduated from Schroon Lake Central School. She went on to receive training to become a telephone operator and also had schooling to become a licensed hair dresser.
She worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Albany, NY and also in Washington State for a time.
Martha settled in New York City and lived there for years working as a telephone operator for the Met Life Company. She also worked for Public Broadcasting in New York City.
Martha won the International Award for the volunteer work she was involved with over many years at Bel View Hospital in New York City. She retired to Saratoga Springs and lived her life out there.
Martha will be missed by family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Moreau and also Hospice of Saratoga for the love and care they provided for Martha.
A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2; 00 pm at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 US Rt.9 in Schroon Lake. Interment will follow at the Severance Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home Friday from 1:00 PM until the service.
