Melvin J. "Joe" Darrah, 70, passed away Sunday March 18, 2018 at home after a brief illness with his loving wife by his side.
Joe was born November 7, 1947 in Glens Falls he was the son of the Late Gordon and Marion (Bailey) Darrah.
He was an avid outdoorsman and woodsman. Joe worked in the logging and construction industries, as a stone mason, for the town of Newcomb and most recently as the transfer station attendant.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his brothers Kenneth and Emery Bailey.
Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen (Liburdi) Darrah of Newcomb; his son, Melvin J. Darrah Jr. (Sarah) of Cropseyville; his cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Abigail; his sister, Carol Pratt of Minerva; along with several nieces and nephews.
At Joe's request there will be no calling hours.
Services will be private in the spring at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank the many friends, relatives and neighbors who have been so thoughtful and helpful throughout Joe's illness.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Joe's memory can be made to Renal Dialysis Unit 126 South Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
