William E. Planty

Schroon Lake; William E. Planty, 58 passed away Friday May 30, 2014 at the Glens falls Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Bill was born September 12, 1955 in Ticonderoga, NY, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Florence Searles Planty.
Bill was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and spent his whole life in the area. He was employed as a carpenter for Demarsh Construction in Schroon Lake and later worked for Bruce McGinn Construction in Olmstedville for 13 years until an injury forced him to leave the work force.
Bill was an avid Boston Red Socks fan and was an excellent second baseman on the Schroon Lake men's soft ball team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golf when he was able.
Survivors include his sons Beau Miner of Corinth and Benjamin Planty of Fort Ann, his daughter Brandi Planty of Schroon Lake, his two grandchildren Jude and Ezra Miner, His sister Renee M.(Planty) Russell of East Greenbush, his brothers Raymond A. Planty of Schroon Lake, and Robert D. Planty of Clifton Park and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June, 4, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 US Rt. 9 Schroon Lake. Interment will follow in the Schroon River Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 12 noon until the services at 1:00 PM.
The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake, NY 12870, or the C.R.Wood Cancer Center at the Glens Falls Hospital, Glens Falls, NY.
