Agnes K. Harris

Alamo, Ca.; Agnes K. Harris, 87, formerly of Schroon Lake, NY, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2015, at her daughter Judy and Son-in-law Bob's home , with her daughter at her side.
She was born August 5, 1928 in Poultney, Vt., the daughter of the late Emil and Frances (Kantorowski) Karkoski.
Agnes was a graduate of the former Mineville High School in Mineville, NY and Albany Business College. She worked for many years as secretary for Dr. Phillip Sawyer and in later years as a customer service representative for Niagara Mohawk (now National Grid).
Agnes was known as the beloved matriarch of the Karkoski family. Her annual summer party was the highlight of the summer, and she loved to entertain family and friends. She was a voracious reader, was proud of her beautiful gardens, and could often be seen on her ride-on mower, taking care of her acre lawn. Her favorite thing was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Sherman G. Harris, her brothers Jack and Zig Karkoski and her sisters Mary Hanchett and Emily Ida.
Agnes is survived by her sons Arthur Michael Harris of Esparto, Ca, and Scott Harris and his fiancée Sharon Alger, of Belle Vernon, Pa.; her daughter Judy (Bob) Weissman of Alamo, Ca.; her grandchildren, Steve (Ali) O'Brien of Menlo Park, Ca., Kevin O'Brien of Tracy, Ca., Mindy Harris and her fiancée Denis Cherry of Charleroi, Pa., Leland Harris of Esparto, Ca., Joshua Harris of Belle Vernon, Pa. and Zachary Harris and his partner Heather Duttry, of Belle Vernon, Pa.; her adored great grandchildren, Kaitlin O'Brien, Kasey O'Brien, Kevin O'Brien, all of Menlo Park, Ca.; and Madalyn Cherry and Jacob Cherry of Charleroi, Pa., her three brothers, Emil Karkoski of Willsboro, Thomas (Kathy) Karkoski of Ticonderoga, Daniel (Melinda) Karkoski of Magalia, Ca.; her sister Frances Willford of Schroon Lake; 3 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Karkoski of Mineville, Rose Karkoski of Mineville and Margaret Karkoski of New Hartford, as well as cousins and countless nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated Friday December 18, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Schroon Lake, by the Rev. Kevin McEwan Pastor. Burial will be in the summer of 2016, (date TBD), followed by a party to celebrate her life.
