Alan Wemett Obituary

It is with profound sadness and immense love that we announce the passing of Alan Hunter Wemett of Schroon Lake, New York. Surrounded by his family, he passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Alan was born on December 10, 1940, in Ticonderoga, New York, to the late Herbert and Marjorie Wemett. His life was defined by his dedication to his family and community. He served as a Boy Scout leader and volunteer firefighter for 52 years, holding positions to include Chief, Assistant Chief, and many other honorary roles. He spent his career as a lumberman, where he was known for his strong work ethic and creative mind.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alan had a deep passion for NASCAR racing, hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. Whether he was teaching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to change a tire, cheering from the sidelines, or sharing stories around the dinner table, his warm presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him.

He was a devoted husband to Ruth Mary (Pecor) Wemett, his partner in life for over 65 years and a loving father to Jeffrey (Tanya) Wemett of Chestertown, Deanna (Wayne) Trudsoe of Chestertown, Justina (James) Vedder of Florida, Alana (David Clark of Schroon Lake, Holly Hermance of Schroon Lake, and son-in-law Anthony Lydon of South Carolina. He was predeceased by his children, Ronna Nadeau of Glens Falls, Eric Wemett of Fort Ann, Leslie Lydon of Glens Falls, and son-in-law Richard Hermance.

He will also be forever remembered by his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends who felt like family.

A celebration of Alan's life will be held on July 8, 2026, at John Kelly Funeral Home in Schroon Lake, New York. Family and friends are invited to share their favorite memories of his life from 12:00 to 2:00pm with services following at Severance cemetery.
