Olmstedville: Arthur J. Liberty, 83, passed away Monday afternoon at Glens Falls Hospital with his family by his side.
Arthur was born on September 25, 1941, at the Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, NY, the son of the late Elmer and Margaret (Clifford) Liberty.
Arthur was a graduate of Minerva Central School, Class of 1959. He served in the US Army in Vietnam as an SP4 E4 (T), and he was honorably discharged on 12/13/1965.
Arthur served the taxpayers of the Town of Minerva as Superintendent of Highways for 24 Years, was a member of the Essex County Highway Superintendents Association and as Town Justice for 14 years, and was a member of the Essex County Magistrates Association. He was a communicant of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Olmstedville for his entire life. He was a Minerva Volunteer Fire Department member and an active member of Northwoods Club in Minerva.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 28 years, Martha (Moon) Liberty, and his stepchildren, Daniel (Jessica) Webster, Susan (Michael) Cooper, and Belinda (Scott) Hartung.
A funeral mass will be offered at 3:00 PM Friday afternoon, December 20, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Olmstedville. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Spring.
