Carl R. Russell

North Hudson; Carl R. Russell, 64, Passed away at home September 19, 2017 after a long and exhausting battle with cancer.
Carl was born August 25, 1953 in Glens Falls, NY the son of Zeno and Hilda Bowman Russell.
Carl was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and soon married the love of his life Mary Jo Liberty.
Carl began his employment at D.M.F. Fetterolf Coal and Construction Co. Boswell, Pa. later at National Lead Industries in Tahawus, NY and Pike Industries of Tilton, NH.
Carl was a Correction Officer for the New York State Department of Corrections for 25 years and 25 days he retired in 2004 having worked at the Moriah Shock Incarceration Facility for the last 15 years of his employment.
Carl was a proud Harley owner and is now riding with all his biking buddies and he enjoyed partying on the pontoon boat with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was healthy and able. He was a former member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club.
Carl was in charge of the not for profit Toys for Kids of Essex County for many years.
Carl is survived by his wife of 44 years Mary Jo of North Hudson, his daughter Carlena Jo (Randy) Russell of Schroon Lake, His son Carl J. (Amber) Russell of Pembina, ND, his mother Hilda (Dave) Barton of Schroon Lake, his grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan Budwick , Joelle Barrows and Ella and Connor Russell, his brothers Philip Russell of Queensbury and Michael Wells of Gilboa, his sisters Hazel and Bonnie Wells of Schroon Lake and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Monday September 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 US Rt. 9, Schroon Lake. Interment will follow at the Schroon River Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the service at 2:00 PM.
