Schroon Lake: Donald G. Miller, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 3, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Donald H. and Helen A. (Forst) Miller.
Don proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from 1969 to 1971. In 1981, Don moved to the Adirondacks, setting up his permanent residence in Schroon Lake, NY. During his time in Schroon Lake, Don fulfilled many positions. He was a business owner and a school bus driver and served as a captain in the emergency squad. Don also had a career in the insurance industry in Manhattan and later again in the Adirondacks. While Don loved his hometown of Schroon Lake, he later found comfort in the warmer climate of Florida, where he and his wife Donna would snowbird, too.
Over the years, his favorite hobbies were boating, riding motorcycles, and camping with his family. Don always prided himself on the love of his family, and through many years of battling heart disease, he gained a great appreciation of how valuable time and family were.
Don is predeceased by his parents, sister Barbara, and brother Douglas. In addition to his devoted, loving wife, Donna, of thirty-two years, Don is survived by his two daughters of Schroon Lake, Jennifer (Jamie) LaPerle and Kimberly (Richard) Dumoulin, his Stepchildren Craig (Wendy) Hawkinson and Lisa (Mike) Diers, both of Syracuse, NY; He was the proud Papa of eight grandchildren, Julia, Ricky, Lucas, Ava, Andrew, Abigail, Porter, and Parker. Don is also survived by siblings Betty Jean (Tim) Hickey, Robert Miller, and Joan (William) Sakmann.
