Newcomb, NY, James A. Miller 86, Passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side Jan. 4, 2018 He was born Dec. 24, 1931 in Plattsburgh, NY the son of the late Reed and Belle (MacAloon) Miller. Jim was also predeceased by his wife Maryann Miller, son Peter Miller, daughter Cindy Bradway, and brother Reed Miller, Jr. Raised in Plattsburgh, Jim was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School and Plattsburgh State College. Jim was employed by South Glens Falls School System, Lake George High School, Lansingburgh School System, Comstock Prison, and the Saratoga Race Track. He was a volunteer fireman in South Glens Falls, and served St. Michael's Parish as an usher. Jim raised his family in South Glens Falls, NY. before retiring to Newcomb, NY. He enjoyed his retirement in Newcomb as an avid outdoorsman. He embraced hunting, fishing, golfing and motorcycling. As one friend described him,, "I don't know if Jim Miller was made for the Adirondacks, or the Adirondacks were made for Jim Miller". Survivors include his son Jack (Ellen) Miller, his daughters Cathy (Vince) Fragassi and Mary Ellen (Rick) Thombs, his brother Albert Miller, his ten grandchildren and his eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. At James's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. We are most grateful to his caregivers, daughter Cathy Fragassi and longtime friend Barb Palmatier. Jim had many dear friends and neighbors in Newcomb, NY. A special thank you, to his doctors, nurses and support staff at Saratoga Hospital. Also to Dr. Russell Rider and the staff at the Mary Lou Whitney Medical Center in Long Lake, NY. And special thanks to High Peaks Hospice. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials take the form of donations to High Peaks Hospice & Pallltive Care, PO Box 192, Port Henry, NY, 12974. The Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
