Plattsburgh: Jennifer Lee Jones (LaTurner) passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. She was born at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, Vt. on January 19, 1977, the daughter of the late Paul Joseph “JP” Jones Jr. and Linsey Lee (Moran) Jones. Jen loved to share the story about how she was born during a snowstorm. Her love for a good snowstorm carried through to her last days, as she loved to watch the fall leaves give way to the soft snow falling outside her window at the hospital.
Jen spent her childhood growing up in the Buffalo area, attending school there. She loved to share stories of her travels around the country, participating in national high school figure skating competitions. Two of her greatest treasures were the third-place silver medal she earned in Boston, Massachusetts, and her first-place gold medal she earned at the national finals in Houston, Texas, when she was in high school.
As she matured into a young adult, Jen became a professional dancer. She was also a talented seamstress and was very proud of her ability to sew many of her own costumes and clothing. In the last few years of traveling, she found herself living in Australia and taking up a new interest in tattooing. She was proud of the tattoos she designed for herself and others. Jen loved nature and exploring it. She returned to the United States in the spring of 2022 to reside near family.
Left to cherish her memory are her cousin, caregiver, and best friend Tammy Whitty-Brown, her mother Linsey Moran-Hurlburt and stepfather Robert Hurlburt, her siblings Dawn Labatore (Jon), Zak DeGarmo (Amanda), Rebecca Jones, Paul Jones III, and Jeremiah Hurlburt, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Jen asked that the following words of wisdom be shared with those left behind:
“The truth is a resonance, and I resonate with the truth.
Know thy limitations, from toe to tooth.
Authenticity is the key. Do not be swayed by celebrities.
Make a daily commitment to betterment to avoid mediocrity.
True faith is knowing that even at night the sun’s ray’s shine.
When the enemy is ruthless, be ruthless to thine.
Friendship is the most glorious of perfections, when keeping in mind the laws of inversion.
Charitable donation is the only true sacrifice, always remember the difference between good and nice.”
In closing, the family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, pet therapist and hospital staff at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital that gave her outstanding care during her 6 months stay. You brought kindness, laughter, & love to her darkest days which make you angels.
Funeral services and burial arrangements will be private.
