Joan P Whitty

Schroon Lake: Joan P. Whitty passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Elderwood at Ticonderoga, with her family by her side.

She was born March 31, 1933, in Utica, NY the daughter of the late Bessie Joiner, she was also predeceased by her husband of 64 years Raymond C. Whitty.

Joan worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Schroon Lake, she spent many years at Drakes restaurant working for the Marnell family. She went to work for Drake Hardware and lumber company for several years and then for Curtis Lumber Company from which she retired.

Joan enjoyed reading, embroidery, crocheting, and baking special rolls.

Survivors are her two daughters, Arlene (Punkie) Whitty of Schroon Lake and Linda O’Dell of Ticonderoga, and a half-sister Cherie Briggs of Windsor, Conn., and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place Thursday morning August 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Severance Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 Us Rt. 9, Schroon Lake, NY.

The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Library or the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake NY, 12870.
