Schroon Lake: John H. Mingo, 84, sadly passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
He was born January 5, 1940, in Schroon Lake, the son of the late Henry W. and Bernice Knox Mingo. He was a lifelong resident of Schroon Lake.
John was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an exceptional community member.
Following High School, John proudly served four years in the US Air Force and, after his discharge, worked many years as a trucker and self-employed logger.
John served 55 years as a member of the Schroon Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and a former member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club.
John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kay, his grandson Andrew, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Jeanne, his sons John and Jim, and his sisters Carol and Henrieta.
A funeral service will be held Monday morning, April 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 US Rt. 9, Schroon Lake, NY. The interment will be in the Schroon Lake Community Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 10:00 until 11:00 Am.
The family suggests memorials for John take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
