Chazy and Minerva - Lawrence G. Pratt Sr. age 89, passed away March 22, 2017 at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburg, N.Y. after a long illness.

Larry attended the one room school house in Mooers Forks, NY. Upon the death of his father when he was 12, he quit school to help his mother on the farm. When he was 19, he traveled to Tahawus, NY and was employed at NL Industries as a miner. He worked at NL Industries for 42 years until the company closed the Tahawus location.
Larry was able to operate any large equipment he was assigned to. For many years he was also the engineer for the train carrying ore from the mine in Tahawas to North Creek. Larry was an accomplished mechanic. He loved farm tractors and always had a John Deere or International he was either working with or on.
Larry was known for his sense of humor. He loved to laugh and joke around and was always fun to be with. He loved to travel, visiting and talking with people along the way. He often reminisced about the road trip he made cross country to Alaska with a pickup truck and a camper on the back and all the adventures he encountered along the way.
When he bought that truck he took a garbage bag size of pennies and change he had been saving to the dealership to pay for it. He loved to go to auctions he would load up his pick-up with "stuff" he wanted to sell - he always came back with his pick-up loaded and other "stuff" he bought. He had a keen sense of adventure and he was always game to try new things.
Larry moved from Minerva to Chazy when he was 76 and married his present wife, Carolyn, when he was 79.
Larry will be sorely missed by his survivors and those who loved him.
