Marjorie Powers Obituary
Schroon Lake; Marjorie J. Powers, 89, passed away Monday May 4, 2015 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her children, after a brief illness..
She was born in Schroon Lake May 5 1925 the daughter of the late George C. and Marjorie B. Smith Ochs.
Marge graduated from Schroon Lake Central School and went to work for the FBI. Later, returning to Schroon Lake met her husband of 51 years (predeceased) William A. Powers.
Surviving are her children, Thomas (Carol) Powers, Marlene Powers (Jim Robbins), Maureen (Mike) Marsden and 4 grandsons and 9 great grandchildren and her dog and companion and friend "GIGI"."Margie" as referred to by friends and "Mom" to everyone else, loved gardening, cooking, crocheting, birds and her dog. She was known for her delicious pickles and her infamous rum cake.
Marge was involved in many fraternal organizations in her youth as well as a Cub Scout den mother and a Brownie Troop Leader.
At Mom's request, there will be no services or calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
The family requests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake, NY 12870 or the American Cancer Society.
