Mary Jean Lashway

Schroon Lake: Mary Jean Lashway, 88, went into the arms of the Lord on June 19, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her children.

She was born January 20, 1936, in Plattsburgh, NY, the daughter of the late Perley and Marian (Aubin) Larock. She grew up in Plattsburgh and Chelsea, Mass. She graduated from High School and Nursing School in Plattsburgh.

She married Howard Lashway, the love of her life, on February 16, 1957, and together, they raised six children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her grandsons Brian Lashway and Kevin Lashway Jr., her parents, and her stepmother.

She is survived by her children, Brian (Joy) Lashway, Nancy Lashway, Cindy (Don) Anslow, Beth (Dale) Carpenter, Lisa Rowlands, Kevin (Missy) Lashway, her brother Francis, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jean was a registered nurse who worked as a private nurse for many elderly people in the Schroon Lake area. She was a very active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Rosary Society, a Eucharistic minister, and taught religious education to children for over 30 years. She was also an emergency dispatcher for the Schroon Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Squad and a leader at 4-H.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Schroon Lake. Interment will follow at the Severance Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be made to the Schroon Lake Ambulance Squad, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
