Patricia W. O'Brien

Minerva; Patricia "Pat" W. O'Brien, 88 , of Minerva, NY, passed away peacefully Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Adirondack Tri County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family after being stricken last month.

Patricia was born in Utica, NY on May 23, 1928 to the late Thomas and Winifred (O'Neill) Bergan. Patricia attended Vincentian Institute in Albany, NY and graduated from the College of St. Rose in 1950.

Patricia was a school teacher in Albany, NY before marrying Robert O. O'Brien on Valentine's Day, 1953. She later taught remedial reading at Minerva Central School for many years before retiring in 1995.

Pat was an accomplished gourmet cook, devoted mother and teacher, and bon vivant with a personality larger than life.

She lived life to the fullest, whether it was wining and dining with family and friends, playing poker, or dancing the night away. She lived each day like it was her last. For want of a better word, she was a character - and a good one.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Robert, and her eight children, Terrence (Teresa), Thomas (Nancy).Timothy (Marie), Robert (Rebecca), Maureen, Neil (Jolie), Kathleen, and Patricia (Sarah).

She is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Blanchard of Albuquerque, NM, and Kathleen Brown of Albany, NY, as well as eight grandchildren: Bridget, Michael, Patrick, Conner, Megan, Nicole, Leo and Darien. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 US Rt. 9, in Schroon Lake Wednesday August17, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday morning August 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joesph's Catholic Church in Olmstedville, NY. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery Olmstedville.
