Robert Dobie Obituary

North Hudson: Robert D. Dobie was reunited with his parents Wilbur and Mildred Dobie and sister Jackie Hopper on January 19, 2024, after a sudden decline in health.

Rob was an avid sports fan. He grew up in Blue Ridge playing backyard sports with his brothers and excelling in all sports throughout high school and wasn’t above jacking deer with his mother “Milly” never shooting any but having a lot of fun trying. His later years were enjoyed on the golf course spending afternoons with his good friend Ron Moore.

Like his mother they were both devoted to their town and family. He started his early years working at the Town of North Hudson Highway Dept. In 1979 he created Dobie Brothers Trucking & Excavating where he provided jobs and many laughs for some of his siblings, cousins and of course Ken Foster for many years. In 1989 he was forced to work for his wife at North Hudson Grocery and soon decided it was easier to manage the town, so he ran for the Town Supervisor’s position, a post previously held by his mother Mildred Dobie for 16 years. He won in 2000 where he continued to serve his community until he retired in 2012.

Survived by the love of his life and soul mate for 38 years Brenda Dobie. Rob is also survived by sister Betsy Allen, and 6 brothers-Allen, Phil, Richard, Tom, Jeff, and Brian along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A kind and gentle man, Rob touched many lives always putting others ahead of himself. For those with stretched ears and bruises you were the lucky ones.

A private graveside service will be held along with a public remembrance being planned for April 1, 2024 (to be announced).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Elizabethtown Community Hospital for all the love and support they provided. True compassionate, loving group of people that words cannot express.  Https:www.ech.org/health-centers/Ticonderoga-campus
