Violet M. Johnston

North Hudson, Violet M. Johnston passed away June 2, 2017. She was born June 11, 1938 in Mt Kisco, NY, the daughter of the late Charles E. Paustian and Violet M. Crumm.
Vi was predeceased by her husband's Donald Johnston of North Hudson and Arthur Anderson of Wilmington, NC, and her brother Martin Paustian of Woodruff, SC.
Vi graduated from Somers High School, Somers, NY. She attended NYU, and was a member of the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Squad and helped develop and start the Yorktown Volunteer Youth Ambulance Corps. During her vacations she was a member of the Arlington Vt. Ambulance Squad. She enjoyed her years as manager of the Schroon/North Hudson Senior Center and treasurer of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club. Vi retired from the Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School District as Transportation Director in 2007. She also drove for Vanguard Tours in Yorktown Heights, NY in Westchester Co., over 25 years of driving a bus! Vi was a 19A Instructor and a tractor trailer driver.
She is survived by her brother Charles (Chic) Paustian of Manchester, VT., her children Dwayne (Cheri) Anderson of Schroon Lake, Sally (Dan) Wachowski of North Hudson and Arthur (Andy) (Colleen) Anderson of Montrose; her stepchildren Gary (Sue) Johnston of North Carolina, Cheryl and Mike Ferrara of Santa Rosa, Ca., and Donald {Norma) Johnston Jr. of Watervliet, NY.. Vi was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Vi's funeral service will be conducted Sunday afternoon June 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 US Rt. 9 in Schroon Lake.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad in Vi's memory.
