North Hudson, N.Y.; Virginia M. Iannaccone (Ginnie) 83. Born in Norwalk, Conn. On September 25th, 1940, she passed away peacefully at home late at night on Tuesday, July 16th, after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer that she handled with the utmost grace. She was surrounded by loving friends and family the entire time.
Virginia took pride in her work. In her earlier years, she worked in a factory on an assembly line making pacemakers. When Ginnie moved here, she eventually started cleaning for the Town of North Hudson for many years until she retired in the summer of 2021.
She was most famously known as Mrs. I by her Pepper Hollow family, but she was also more of a mom. A visit was always welcomed and certainly encouraged.
If you have ever received a loaf of her famous banana bread, you were one of the lucky ones. She always enjoyed baking and sharing with all her friends. She also created the most beautiful quilts. It was one of her favorite hobbies, and she loved working on them with her quilting buddy, Betty Dolback, a lifetime friend.
The i’s weren’t dotted, and the t’s weren’t crossed, as she liked to say, but she unofficially adopted a son, Larry Koller, from North Hudson. He was one of her favorite people, for good reason, she was one of his favorites, too. He was always there for her, and she was so grateful.
Brenda Bessey from North Hudson was a longtime friend of Ginnie’s. The two of them had been close since the early 90s. They enjoyed spending time together, going on shopping trips, and having lunches out.
She also quite enjoyed her daily coffee dates with her good friend Mitch Lorring from North Hudson, especially when he brought her four-legged friends Angie and Rosie by for their daily “cookies”.
Her love wasn’t just for people, she loved animals too. Her cats, Oreo and Ruby, will miss her immensely.
Virginia is survived by her sister Shirley Barnett of AZ., her brothers Robert (Jan) McCarthy of OR. and Patrick McCarthy of TX., her granddaughter Jillian (Dillon) of SC., and her great-granddaughter Cami. She was very excitedly expecting a great-grandson, John Thomas, in the early fall. Multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive her.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 42 love-filled years, James Iannaccone. A hardworking, caring man who was loved just as much as her, they were the perfect couple. Her son John, an outdoors kind of guy who loved fishing and gardening, got his green thumb from his mother and was, most of all, an avid car enthusiast. She was looking forward to her reunion with both of them.
She was always cheerful and will be missed terribly, her infectious laugh and smile will never be forgotten.
